Volunteer

Do you have a passion for swimming that you want to share in a positive way?

Do you want to connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds, and help build community?

Can you see yourself being part of a program that makes a tangible impact on the lives of participants and volunteers?

Join the team

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of Swim for Refugees, which is entirely run by the time, commitment and energy of volunteers.

When you volunteer with us, you’ll be joining a team very fun, kind and awesome people (if we do say so ourselves). The volunteering commitment is one season of lessons, which lasts 6-10 weeks.

Volunteer roles

Activity Centre

Make snacks, chat with families, watch kids and play games while parents swim. Perfect if you want to join but you’re not too keen on jumping in the water.

Swim Buddy

Help out teachers in the water. You’ll need to be a comfortable swimmer – no teaching experience required!

Swim Teacher

Lead our swim lessons!
You’ll need swim teacher qualifications.

Volunteer requirements

Registrations opening soon

Thank you for your interest in joining Swim for Refugees. Registrations for volunteers and participants are not yet open for the upcoming season, as we are currently planning our 2026 program.

We’re excited to welcome new and returning community members, and we’ll share more information – including dates and how to sign up – closer to the season launch.

Thank you for your patience and support as we prepare for another meaningful year in the water.
